Eurasia Project: NTNU-KPI Cooperation in Industry 4.0 Education

Partner in Norway: NTNU - Norwegian University of Natural and Technical Sciences, Department of Manufacturing and Civil Engineering

Partner in Ukraine: National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, Institute of Mechanical Engineering.

Short description of the project:

The main goal of this project is to offer attractive education in the framework of sustainable production through the exchange of knowledge between NTNU and KPI. This will be done by strengthening existing cooperation between institutions and establishing new contacts among both staff and students.

This project will improve existing courses and programs on production topics related to Industry 4.0 and additive manufacturing, as well as facilitate research on these topics.

In addition, the cooperation is aimed at developing modern teaching methods ("learning factories and simulation" of the training and modeling factory), as well as a program to achieve a better gender balance for staff and students in technical research. A strong academic alliance between the learning environment, in addition to creating attractive learning opportunities and improving the quality of education, will enhance the mobility of both staff and students.

Students studying in partner institutions will be able to access jointly developed courses and learning activities. The introduction of the concept and laboratory of the training factory will change the way of learning technology management and will open new opportunities for innovative research. Moreover, international experience will promote cultural exchange between KPI and NTNU students.

As corruption remains an important issue for Ukraine, we seek to address this issue both through the Industry 4.0 project and approach, and through opportunities for cultural and educational exchanges. In this way, we make it easier for Ukrainian students to become familiar with attitudes towards corruption in Western Europe.

Department of Dynamics and Strength of Machines and Strength of Materials 

traines specialists in the specialty 131 "Applied Mechanics", educational program "Dynamics and Strength of Machines".

The professional activity of the graduates is related to calculated and experimental studies of the structural strength, durability and reliability of transport, energy and other machines and equipment, aviation, rocket and space technology with the use of modern information technologies. Students of Master's education program have the opportunity to study:

• at the joint Ukrainian-German Faculty of Engineering of the Otto von Guericke University (Magdeburg, Germany) and Igor Sikorsky KPI.;
• under the double diploma Master's program of the Poznan University of Technology (Poznan, Poland) and Igor Sikorsky KPI;
• for the program of dual education of the engineering company PROGRESSTECH-Ukraine and Igor Sikorsky KPI and in the specialized primary science center “KPI - PROGRESTECH-Ukraine - Boing-Ukraine” with with further employment in PROGRESTECH Group of Companies.

Educational program "Dynamics and Strength of Machines" has been passed International accreditation procedure and designated as satisfing the requirements of European engineering educational program.

Department of Aircraft Production Technology

trains bachelors (on the basis of complete secondary general education or on the basis of a diploma of a junior specialist), masters and doctors of philosophy in the specialty 131 "Applied mechanics" in educational programs: "Technology of aircraft production" and "Applied mechanics of plasticity of materials" in specializations:

• systems of computer technologies of plastic molding in mechanical engineering;
• technologies of composite and nanostructured structures
• weapons and security technologies "(master's program)
